In Playa Del Carmen- Mexico's Quintana Roo state government is set to invest 26.5mn pesos (US$2.07mn) in potable water projects,




According to several sources, the state of Quintana Roo Mexico plans to invest in improving its potable water. The majority of the funds, 21mn pesos, will be channeled through social development authority Sedes to increase potable water supply across three rural municipalities. The state has also spent 5.5mn pesos on a pilot project to install water supply pipes in unplanned and irregular settlements.is set to invest 26.5mn pesos (US$2.07mn) in potable water projects.   
  
Quintana Roo water utility Capa is stepping up its wastewater treatment capacity in tourist resorts such as Playa del Carmen, according to a release. The Saas Tun Ja and Gonzalo Guerrero wastewater treatment plants treat 100% of the Playa del Carmen's wastewater, currently generated at a rate of 320l/s. In the face of Playa del Carmen's continued growth, Capa plans to increase sludge treatment and the use of compost as fertilizer, as well as improving the overall efficiency of wastewater treatment in the area.

Mexico's Querétaro state government is set to invest 3.60mn pesos to expand access to potable water under its "Soluciones" social development program. Works in the Valle del Mezquital municipality will provide 720 residents with potable water. The state has extended potable water coverage to 30,000 residents during 2011 and aims to reach 27,000 more during the first quarter of 2012.
